If you are raising a vegan family, one of the best things that you can do for your children is to get them involved in the process of preparing food.  That doesn’t necessarily mean that they have to make dinner or anything.  They can start on simple things like vegan snacks and treats.  It is a well known fact that kids tend to like things more if they helped make it.  If your child is having a hard time eating his vegetables, maybe it is time to get him or her involved in the process a little more.

If you are looking for vegan recipes for kids, the best thing to do is to get yourself a cookbook that specializes in this sort of thing.  One problem that some people face is that most of these cookbooks are suited to vegetarians, and not vegans.  What this means is that a lot of the recipes are going to be full of things like milk, cheese, and eggs.  The good thing is that there are a few of the best vegan cookbooks for kids out there where the author is well aware of this problem and has made sure most of the recipes include alternatives to dairy and eggs if you don’t want to include these items.

Here are Some of the Best Cookbooks for Kids.

Kids Can Cook: Vegetarian Recipes

Vegan Lunch Box: 130 Amazing, Animal-Free Lunches Kids and Grown-Ups Will Love!

Vegan Lunch Box Around the World: 125 Easy, International Lunches Kids and Grown-Ups Will Love!

Jumbo Vegetarian Cookbook, The (Jumbo Books)

The Vegetarian Family Cookbook

Vegetarian Kid’s Fun Recipes

First on the list is called Vegan Lunchbox.  This is one of the only books full of vegan recipes for kids without any animal products.  Yes, it is written mostly for adults to prepare lunches for their kids, but since the recipes are meant for kids to like, that means kids will have fun making them also.  One of the best things about Vegan Lunchbox is that it has tasty meals from all over the world so you won’t get bored.  There is even another version of the book that focuses on these international recipes.  Let your kids learn how to cook while also learning about different cultures and what people eat in other parts of the world.

Another treat choice is called Kids Can Cook:  Vegetarian Recipes.  Unlike the Vegan Lunchbox, Kids Can Cook is is a vegan cookbook for kids that is written for kids to do the cooking, not mom or dad.  That means that the recipes in it are a bit more fun.  The Author, Dorothy Bates did a good job of making sure that when the ingredients call for heaps of cheese, milk, or other dairy, alternatives are given.  Things like nutritional yeast and soy milk, rice milk, or almond milk are great substitutes.

There are other great vegan recipes for children as well out there.  The important thing is to find things that your child likes to cook and eat, and has fun doing it.  Check out a few of the best vegan cookbook choices for adults here as well.
